When Haydn joined the Restart Scheme in September 2025, he had been unemployed for around six years and was looking for support to gain employment, improve his confidence, and achieve new qualifications.
With support from his COPA Job Coach, Charley, Haydn engaged fully with the support available, attending one to one appointments every two weeks and actively taking part in job searches and interviews. He showed consistent commitment, making the most of each opportunity to move forward.
Haydn completed several training courses to strengthen his employability, including the sector routeways retail course with Serco, a City and Guilds Level 1 Award in employability skills, and a Level 3 Award in emergency first aid at work with Groundwork. These achievements supported him in building both skills and confidence.
Confidence, particularly in interviews, was one of Haydn’s main barriers when he first joined. Through ongoing support and mock interview sessions, Haydn has grown in confidence and now approaches interviews with a more professional and positive mindset.
Alongside his training, Haydn has been volunteering as a warehouse assistant at St Kentigern’s Warehouse, where he has gained valuable hands-on experience and developed new workplace skills.
Haydn continues to show resilience and a positive attitude, using each interview experience as an opportunity to learn and improve. He remains focused on his goal of securing employment within the retail sector.
