When James joined the Restart Scheme in August 2025, he had spent several years out of employment while caring for a close family member as a personal carer. Although returning to work felt like a big step, he was motivated to rebuild his confidence and move into a role where he could support others.
With support from his COPA Job Coach, Charley, James began exploring opportunities within the support work sector, building on his previous caring experience. He received tailored support throughout his time on programme, including help to strengthen his confidence and guidance through the application process.
As part of this, James was supported to apply for a role with Dyffryn Support Agency. Despite facing some health-related challenges which at times affected his confidence, he remained committed and continued to engage positively with the support available.
His dedication paid off, and James was successful in securing the role. He is now preparing to begin this new opportunity, marking an important step forward in his journey.
Returning to work has had a positive impact on James, both financially and personally. He has gained a renewed sense of confidence and purpose and is looking forward to building a long-term career in support work.
