Junior’s first experience of work with the Restart Scheme

Junior joined the Restart Scheme in November 2025 with the goal of gaining work experience and move closer to employment, having never worked before.

With support from his COPA Job Coach, Charley, he was given the opportunity to take part in a work experience placement at The Range, where he quickly began to make progress in a busy retail environment.

Like many young people entering the workplace for the first time, Junior faced challenges along the way. Living with epilepsy presented additional barriers, but he remained committed throughout. His positive attitude and willingness to learn helped him settle into the role and become part of the team.

During his placement, Junior developed key workplace skills and grew in confidence week by week. He built strong relationships with colleagues and gained valuable first-hand experience of day to day working life.

Speaking about his experience, Junior said:

“I am enjoying my work experience so far, I get on with my team members, and I am grateful for the experience.”

The placement has had a positive impact on Junior, helping him feel more confident and better prepared for the future. He is now motivated to continue building on this progress as he works towards his long-term goal of securing sustainable employment.
