When Phoebe joined the Restart Scheme in April 2025, she brought with her hands on experience in animal care and customer service but was struggling with motivation and engagement due to personal challenges affecting her confidence and outlook.
At the start of her journey, Phoebe found it difficult to fully engage and lacked direction in terms of employment. With consistent support from her Job Coach from COPA, Charley, and the Rhyl Restart team, she gradually began to rebuild her confidence and take positive steps forward.
The team worked closely with Phoebe to help her refocus her goals and explore opportunities suited to her skills and interests. Over time, her engagement improved, and she began to show her potential.
One of the main barriers Phoebe faced was disengagement. In the early stages of the Restart Scheme, it was challenging for her to stay motivated due to the personal difficulties she was experiencing. As her confidence grew, she became more involved and committed to moving forward. Through this progress, Phoebe successfully secured a retail assistant role with OneBeyond in Rhyl.
Phoebe said: “Even though I struggled to engage at first, I’m really happy in my new role and feel much more confident about my future.”
Securing employment has had a positive impact on Phoebe’s life, giving her structure, independence, and a renewed sense of purpose. She continues to thrive in her role and build on the progress she has made.
